Yesterday, I wrote rather quickly that while I gave Lecrae props for talking about Same Sex Marriage on his Facebook page, I didn’t agree with the logic of his arguments against it (comparing SSM to child marriage and incest). The only example I actually think he has a point on is polygamy. Even Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor brought it up polygamy on Tuesday during the Prop 8 Hearing. What I was trying to articulate, but probably failed at, is that SSM opponents need to use better arguments. If your best defense is a slippery slope argument, then you’re pretty quickly going to slide into losing.
There are, however, some Christians with more solid arguments. I listen to Hank Hanegraaff pretty regularly, and on Monday’s episode he covered the topic pretty thoroughly.
On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank welcomes Dr. Jay W. Richards to discuss same-sex marriage and how it is more crucial than ever for Christians to learn how to defend the God-ordained, timeless institution of marriage. Dr. Richards is a senior fellow and director of the Center on Wealth, Poverty, and Morality at the Discovery Institute.
Hank also answers questions on the following topics:
- How do I answer the objection that the Bible’s prohibitions against same-sex relationships arise from mistranslations, and are not contained in the original Hebrew and Greek?
- A co-worker of mine is a homosexual. How do I approach him about the errors of homosexuality without sounding like a bigot?
